concerning the recent posting about a person that got sentanced to a year in
jail for doing a "no-no" with 7 dead 'bugs'--- i cannot resist the temptation
to make the observation that many people are likely puzzled by the interesting
logic in a regulatory system that deals heavy handidly with amateur
emtomologists while at the same time allowing massive habitat/biodiversity
alteration to unabashadly continue. perhaps it is time to consider some
balance in this whole issue and if public funds could not be better spent to
further biodiversity conservation. no need to flame me nor make any
assumptions about my interests in conservation - this is just a sharing of
amazement at the continuing saga of interesting bureaucratic behaviour. there,
i feel better already.
