> KY of the Society of Kentucky Lepidopterists. Friday night 7-11 will be
> an open house at the Covells', 2333 Brighton Drive, Louisville, KY
> 40205. We "talk bugs" and usually look at a video or some slides as
> well. Sat. we open the Lepidoptera collection for viewing,
> identification help, and people exchange books, discuss field trips,
> etc. and generally visit. This is in 321 Life Sciences Bldg., Univ. of
> Louisville. At 1:00 we have our annual business meeting and elections,
> and after that, our special guest speaker. This year it is Ron Boender,
> founder of Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, Florida. He will give us
> the story of Butterfly World, and also a program on his rearing studies
> on Passion-vine-feeding Lepidoptera, mainly the _Heliconius_ (longwing)
> butterflies of the American Tropics. Ron is the founder of the
> Passiflora Society which fosters study and exchange of information about
> growing passionvine species. Those at the meeting will receive free
> Butterfly World videos (while they last). After that, there will be
> shorter talks by James K. Adams, William R. Black Jr., Charlie Covell
> and others about field experiences (such as the discovery of a colony of
> Great Purple Hairstreaks in Paducah, KY, and another mating between
> viceroy and red-spotted Purples in W. KY). Anyone may give a short
> talk, show some slides, or otherwise participate. Door prizes end the
> program, with a lovely print by artist Yin-rei Hicks as the main one.
