I don't think you will find much on the "ecolological value" of the luna
moth on the web.  In fact, you probably won't find too much anywhere. 
No offense, but it's kinda a dumb question.  Like MOST insects, it's
primary value is as a food source for other animals.  And, the larval
excrement (frass) makes good fertilizer.  The best and most "politically
correct" answer (which is what they are looking for anyway) would be to
say that the beauty of the moth itself could spur a young person into a
life of environmental devotion - working for cleaner air, cleaner
water.....all for the protection of the beautiful luna moth.

(BTW - if you want a pinned, dead specimen for display with the report,
write me back and I will send you one)
