A new monarch butterfly documentary entitled "the Monarch: A Butterfly
Beyond Borders" will air on the Canadian version of The Discovery Channel
on Sunday, December 7th at 9 pm. It was produced by Asterisk Productions
Ltd. of Victoria, British Columbia and took about a year to produce.

I first met David Springbett, Heather Macandrew and Mike Simpson in
Toronto on August 2/96 as they recorded the signing of an agreement
between the NAFTA partners for the Conservation and Protection of the
monarch butterfly. I was later filmed by them on location in Mexico as I
demonstrated the tagging method developed by Dr. Fred Urquhart (who was
filmed by Mike Simpson on August 3rd/96).

After airing in Canada, the documentary can be purchased from Asterisk
Productions (asterisk at islandnet.com, (250)480-5256). However, for
American customers of Bullfrog Films (1-800-543-3764), the film can be
purchased in about 3 weeks for $34.99.

Also, later in September a new monarch butterfly book will be released by
Greystone Books - a division of Douglas and McIntyre of Vancouver, B.C..
It is entitled "The Nature of Monarch Butterflies" and is one is a series
of books in the "The Nature of" series. It will sell for $32.50 and has
53 full-color pictures. There is also a French Language edition. ISBN
1-55054-570-1. I've seen a copy. It is a very attractive book.

Author Eric S. Grace is author of numerous books and holds a PhD. in
zoology from Aberdeen University in Scotland. Grace makes his home in
Victoria, B.C.
