We just scanned this hungry Papilio polyxenes larvae directly, being careful
not to squish it of course. No telling what sort of wicked, mutational effects
this exposure might create, but it didn't affect it's appetite any. The focus
isn't perfect, but then big fatty caterpillars aren't as flat as spread
specimens. The color is nice, anyway.
Five of it's cousins are munching on carrot dill, and must be happy they didn't
see the frost we had last night. Anyone know whether late brood P. polyxenes
will emerge early without a _winter_?
Mark Walker.
