About the Gemini Awards

Honouring all aspects of English-language television
production
in Canada, the Gemini Awards annually recognize over 60
categories of achievement in Craft, Program and Performance
          categories.

What is the history behind the Gemini Statue?

Since 1986, the Gemini sculpture, created by designer Scott
Thornley, has symbolized the height of excellence in Canadian
television and the dualities of TV - creativity and
technology, the
talent behind and in front of the cameras, illusion
and reality, and the dual nature of the Canadian
Television industry itself -
English and French programming. The Gemini finds its twin
in its French-language counterpart, the Prix Gémeaux.
