American mistletoe

I finally found my reference to the mistletoe-eating hairstreak--a book
called Florida's Fabulous Butterflies. It gives the range of Atlides
halesus as "South-Central Florida northward through the panhandle and west
to California". Don't know whether Palm Beach County would be too far
south. The Univ of Fla butterfly page --
http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/scripts/htmlgen.exe?DOCUMENT_UW057 -- gives the
southern limit of the "Great Blue Hairstreak" (no latin name given) as
north of Tampa.
