Has Anyone Seen Monarch Butterflies?

I have seen a few Monarchs near my home in Fremont, CA the last
few weeks. It's not unusual to see none this time of the year.

On a recent trip down Mines Road (south of Livermore) I saw a
number of Monarchs from the car. That area is about 2000 - 3000
feet and mostly Rosemary and Manzanita with scattered Pines and
Live Oaks. I've never seen any obvious Milkweed out there so I
don't why Monarchs are there.

Last Saturday I was at Chews Ridge (5000 feet) and had no trouble
finding 4th and 5th instar caterpillars on Asclepias eriocarpa.
