The last edition I had, Borror, DeLong et al. "Introduction to the Study of
Insects" had a pronunciation guide. I also think your high school teacher
was wrong about Latin-derived names needing to be pronounced differently
from Greek-derived. Sounds like pure pseudo-scholarship to me (especially
since no one is certain how genuine Latin *WAS* pronounced).
