more antiopa population 'crash'

To further document the nymphalid population swings, here in central
Ohio I've been actively searching for live N. antiopa since early July
(to start a research colony) and have seen just one (which eluded my
net). Other nymphalids seem to have had normal (N. milbertii, P.
interrog.) or even above normal (P. comma, P. vau-album) numbers this
year. Mourning cloaks were not especially abundant last year, so this
may not represent a density-dependent population crash. The scarcity is
sure perplexing.
