Antennae vs. antennas

Dear Leps-lers:

For years now I've been giving talks about butterflies to a wide variety
of groups (school children to senior citizen garden clubs) and I've
found that the vast majority of people are anxious to LEARN. There's no
need to dumb down to anyone. When I give the common name of a butterfly
I follow it with the scientific name as well. I don't think I've ever
referred to a proboscis as a "tongue", but rather as a straw like
structure that the butterfly uses to sip nectar. There's no confusion
and people immediately understand how it works...and they have the
correct name!
