Hey folks,

In Winston-Salem, NC there is a well preserved Moravian village called Old
Salem. In the historical records of Old Salem dating from 1830 there are
documents referring to the rearing of Bombyx atlas for the purposes of
obtaining silk. Does anyone know what species of moth this might be? The
author mentions collecting them while walking through the woods and placing
their offspring on apple, hickory, and elder. Any ideas?
