Hello all,
Yesterday a fresh Tiger Swallowtail nectared at creeping phlox in bloom
here and basked several inches from its' food source while escaping the
brisk eastern winds off Lake Michigan. Dandelions are blooming as are
Serviceberry and Plum trees.
This butterfly was active around 2:30 P.M. Next seen was a rapidly
flying Mourning Cloak which had been sipping at a driveway mud puddle.
Temperatures are moving up to the seventies for the weekend and ought to
improve lepidoptera sightings.
Very truly,
Diane Falk
