To sweeten the pot ... let's list our leps this weekend as well as the
birds.
Neil Jones asked me what's flying, and I ain't going to all this work
for just one friend.
Zebra longwing (Heliconius charitonius)
Gulf fritillary (Agraulis vanillae)
Checkered skipper (maybe Tropical? Pyrgus oileus)
Cloudless sulphur (Phoebis sennae)
Orange-barred sulphur (Phoebis philea)
Long-tailed skipper (Urbanus proteus)
White peacock (Anartia jatrophae)
Lots of dragonflies, lots of grasshoppers ... we've had a very warm
winter so far.
and a moth whose name I forget, and somebody has lost or discarded our
arthropod book at the Mounts ... small, black with white wingtips, flies
like a butterfly, and its larvae, I remember, eat Snow on the Mountain.
(The shrub, not the actual snow.)
Cheers
