Alan Wilson reported his first monarch at Elliott Lake, Ontario - east
of Sault Ste Marie - on May 29th. He has since found 175 eggs on
milkweed leaves. It is interesting to note the arrival at this northern
location is about the same time the monarchs arrived in southern Ontario
along the north shoreline of Lake Ontario. It suggests that these
monarchs took a different migration route or encountered better
migration/weather conditions.

Dr. Fred Urquhart noted this trend in years past - Monarchs arriving at
the Sault about the same time as they arrive in the south.
