Crumpled wings from chrysalis

To everyone,

Thanks for the great responses and help! After conversing with the
wife, she said nothing in the literature the company sent (Carolina
Biological) speaks of humidity or misting. She also told me that the
shipment box of caterpillars probably stayed in the office due to
misplacement for at least a week (? - go figure). The fact is that she
got hers a week after all the other 2nd Grades did. As to the students
handling of the chrysalis', I couldn't tell you, but I don't think they
are allowed to; just watch. It is also an exercise in patience for the
kids. The reward is the release in the school yard (and man is that a
hit!).
Sharyn mentioned something about a host plant... what is it for _V.
cardui_? Maybe she should start them off on that (if it isn't to
complicated) to ensure proper nutrition and then move them to a good place
to pupate. (?)
Thanks again for all the help, and I think the game plan has been
modified for next years' batch.

   Sincerely,

--
