I assume that you qare using Win98, but the situation is similar
whatever OS you are using.  In the Windows98 File menu under
"Properties", there is a category named "Attributes".  There is a
checkbox labelled "Read-Only".  for a file to be accessible for any kind
of modification (including deletion), it must be unchecked.  A directory
or folder will often, if not always (I am not sure) be off-limits for
deletion if it is not empty.
