I received two messages from some fine subscribers who think my bait
information is shear Bull _____!

I have been using, designing and making Bait Traps and Light Traps for over
twenty years. I design and build the best. To date I have sold over 3000
light traps world wide. I have Light Traps on every continent, including
Antarctica. Bait Traps on every continent but Antarctica. So I believe I know
something of which I speak and write.

As for Bull _____, I only tried it once, I did not collect any Lepidoptera,
but caught lots of flies. Of course maybe I should try some of the BS on
LEPS-L, at times it gets pretty deep. However, horse manure and bear dropping
work great, both in the trap and out. In berry season, bear droppings are the
best.

If you have a bait trap, use it. Bait traps are like real-estate, LOCATION,
LOCATION, LOCATION. If you put out a trap and you trap very little, either
your bait is not working or your trap is in the wrong location. The bait
problem can be quickly cured. Cut up 4 medium size apples, two bananas, half
cup of sugar, and a 1/4 cup of water. Place in gallon zip-lock bag and place
the bag in sun. When the zip-lock swells up like a balloon, the bait is
ready. Place the trap where it will be in the late afternoon sun. Dappled
light is great! If this doesn't produce, there must be snow on the ground!

I have been using carrion baits for twenty-five years and I feel greeeaaat.
Although at time I may smell otherwise!!!!!
