Well, last night four of us finally decided spring had arrived, packed up
the mini-generators and MV lites and headed out to a favorite spot with
sand and pines here in central Alberta. Managed to pull in 9 species of
noctuids ( and a smaller number of micro's). Xylina curvimacula, Homoglaea
hircina, Litholomia napaea, Orthosia hibisci, Ufeus satyricus, Cerastis
salicarum, Lithophane tepida, L. fagina, and L. lepida. The last species
new for Alberta. The grouse were drumming, the wood frogs croaking, the
sky was full of stars and we had the lawn chairs and a beer or two.
It was really nice to be back at it.
