POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

INTERIM CURATOR OF ENTOMOLOGY AND POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

     The University of Alaska Museum (UAM) at the University of Alaska
Fairbanks (UAF) seeks qualified applicants for a Postdoctoral
Researcher and Interim Curator of Entomology.
     The appointee is expected to consolidate and curate a developing
entomological collection focusing on Arctic taxa and to conduct
research in evolutionary biology and entomological systematics with an
emphasis on the Arctic. The position is central to the development of
UAM's Arctic Archival Observatory program. It is a three-year
position, renewable  annually, after which a search for a tenure-track
faculty position will be conducted. Available facilities at UAF and in
the associated Department of Biology and Wildlife and the Institute of
Arctic Biology (http://mercury.bio.uaf.edu) include: core DNA
laboratory, spatial ecology laboratory, supercomputer, a modern
greenhouse, and the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research site.
     Applicants are preferred who have experience in managing and
using traditional museum collections, a background in comparative
biology and the theory of phylogenetic systematics, and an ability to
effectively interact with a variety of colleagues and agencies. A
Ph.D. is mandatory.
     The appointment should begin in September 2000. Send
