Hi Mary
My choice would be:
- The Pocket Guide to Butterflies
Paul Whalley, Richard Lewington (Illustrator) :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1840002727/qid=965222326/sr=1-1/026-4426325-7230860
- Collins Field Guide: Butterflies of Britain and Europe
Tom Tolman, Richard Lewington
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0002199920/qid%3D965222392/026-4426325-7230860
The latter is a bit bulky but it gives more text and is more up to
date. The pocket guide covers just about everything you will encounter
and is very easy to carry around with you. Remember, the Amazon
references I have given are for the UK web-site - not US. :-)
Best wishes,
Chris R.
