I think she's not in the U.S. 
Our imported pest is Pieris rapae, commonly called the cabbage white. 
Pieris brassicae is also commonly called cabbage white, lays eggs in
clusters, and does not inhabit the U.S. yet. 
Did Barrie neglect to use the scientific name?
