Can you identify this butterfly please?

Well as Pierre says I specalise in studying checkerspots. 
This one is not in the area in which I specialise.
However it looks to me as if it is The Spotted Fritillary Melitaea didyma.
The French call this the Damier Orange (e acute on the end)
I am in the USA at present hence the different email address
