A question about the silver spotted skipper

Hi. I have a question about the silver spotted skipper. I understand the 
larva uses leaves and silk as a shelter. I found one attached to my car, and 
moved it into a critter cage. It finished sealing off the shelter. Does the 
larva stay in this shelter, or does it undergo metamorphosis. If the latter, 
how long does it take for the skipper to emerge? Thanks for any info :)
