Signs of Spring in Ashford Kent UK

It was great to see my first male brimstone this year in my garden on
Sunday 12th March in Ashford Kent. It was a beautiful large specimen and
I wanted to get a photo but, although it was fluttering about for over 15
minutes, it wouldn't settle for a moment. The weather has been fairly
mild for the last week and everything is now coming to life.

In previous years I've seen many brimstones when out walking but, as far
as I recall, I've never seen one in my garden. I suspect that this one
had been hibernating in the ivy which has now grown over my garden fence
and house wall and hope that it might be the first of a number.
