Hello.

This is absolutely fascinating.

Some years ago, I came across something that looked like the Megalopyge 
opercularis pictured in the Texas A&M website 

(http://entowww.tamu.edu/images/insects/fieldguide/cimg256.html). 

This was at Balyermo on Lombardy poplar.  Valermo is at the south edge 
(toward the Sa Gabriel Mountains) of southern California's Mojave 
Desert.  Does this make any sensde to any of you who know this species 
(I ask because I have never seen it again and suspect it may have been a 
fluke occurence)?  Additionally, what are this species' normal range and 
yearly chronology?
