A new twist on peer review

Given the extensive discussion on peer review that I unfortunately started, the following might prove interesting:


The following was allegedly sent from a Chinese Journal to a British economist rejecting his manuscript for publication.

"We have read your manuscript with boundless delight. If we were to publish your paper it would be impossible for us to publish any work of a lower standard. As it is unthinkable that, in the next thousand years, we shall see its equal, we are, to our regret, compelled to return your devine composition."
