Binocular microscopes

I second the purchase of a fiber-optic illuminator.  It can make a
mediocre scope good and a good scope great.  If you don't want to wait
for for a university to unload its old stuff, use a search engine to
search up 'Used Microscopes', since most urban areas have 1-2 companies
that buy up the bulk of used academic equipment, recondition it, and
sell it  well-below cost.  It helps to find one near to you, since you
still should visit them to see the condition of the scope or light.
