sore eyes

I hit send before signing the previous message on allergens and 
irritants. 

However, the last thing I got in my eyes was insect repellant which I 
"carefully" sprayed on my neck and ears.  

The intense burning (fortunately only in one eye) ruined the field trip.

However, it only lasted for about 10 hours (compared to the report of 
milkweed sap conjunctivitis lasting for two days), so I guess if you 
have the choice of what to spray in your eye, go for the repellent.
