I believe that El Rosario is the most encroached upon overwintering colony
site in Michoacan. A camera shot in the opposite direction of those below
would show extensive areas of 80 to 90% deforestation all the way back down
to Angangueo. The "cluster area" indicated by a single arrow is misleading.
Monarchs cluster over a wide expanse here. In the late winter, they would
move further down the hill side if trees still existed in that area... This
Boreal forest is not directly comparable to the ocean-side woodlands of
