This is an excellent, internet-based science program utilized by over
4000 classrooms in Canada and the United States. The program follows the
arrival of spring as it sweeps across North America. This is
accomplished by measuring phenomenon and by means of reports of "first
sightings" of certain target species.
The program would appreciate your reports of your first sighting of an
adult monarch butterfly, of egg laying, of a larva, or other monarch
behaviour. Please register directly with Journey North at:
www.learner.org/jnorth. This will allow you to report your sighting
directly to the program. Alternatively, this writer would be willing to
forward your observation to Journey North.
Also, by going to the program web site, you will learn about the other
target species (including red-winged blackbird, hummingbird, oriole,
etc). Your observations will make a valuable contribution to this
outstanding program.
Questions can be sent to: jn-help at learner.org.
