The Academy of Natural Sciences is the oldest natural history
museum in the western hemisphere, and one of the largest.
Although the lepidoptera are not a main focus there, the
entomology department is large and active, with over 3 million
specimens; curator Dan Otte is well known as one of the
world's top authorities on orthopterans. If I had a specific
question about butterflies in the collection there, I'd probably
direct it to the collection manager, Donald Azuma, at
azuma at acnatsci.org

Hope this helps.

Anyone know if there is still such a thing as the "Academy of Natural
Sciences of Philadelphia" which apparently existed about 90 years ago ? If
it does, does it still have a butterfly collection and if it does, who can I
contact to get an answer to a simple question ?? Thanks.
