Hello all:

This is my first time stoping by. I saw something so unusual
today, I hoped someone could help ID it. (I visited a butterfly
web site, looked thru over 500 pics with no luck.)

Here's some info--

I live in Southeastern Michigan, USA. The '?' was resting on the
side of my house. First off, it was huge-- with its wings in a relaxed
state it was aprox 3-3 1/2" across. With the wings fully spread out it
was aprox 4-4 1/2" across. It was about 4 1/2" in length ( which includes
the length of its 'tail'.) It appeared to have four wings (two over-lapping
on each side.) The 'underwing' had a circle 'eye' pattern. It was an
almost florescent green in color ( with just a hint of yellow) with
dark purple/black banding a the front outside edges of the wings. There
was a bright yellow 'triangle' of color about where the head would be.
The antenna were shaped like fern leaves and bright orange in color.
There were also two other marks (purple/black in color.) They extended
from the front edge of the wings-- on the right side it looked like the
letter 'J'. On the left side, a backward letter 'J'.

I wish I had a digital camera so I could post an image. It was really
something to look at.

Can anyone help ID this? Or suggest where else I my look for an answer?

Thank you!
