fridge crisper storage

I have been storing Saturniidae cocoons in ziploc plastic tubs in the refrigerator crisper for many years. The cocoons go into cold storage in October and come out in early May. I usually get 100% eclosions, mate up my reared females with wild males and get good healthy stock. If your veggies stay fresh in the crisper, your cocoons will too!
Several years ago my teenaged daughter had a friend over for a visit in the fall. The friend was uncomfortable with the buckets of Sphingidae larvae in the living room and made a comment. My daughter said, "That's nothing, you should see the cocoons in the refridgerator".
In sheer disgust the friend made a face and replied, "You mean he eats them, too?"
