My heart is gladdened by the story of the Monarch roosts enhanced value.
The question is whether the $100K is enough to purchase the next place
they settle.

And there are countervailing stories of conservationists failing to make
wise investments.

Years ago (25-30) there was a plan to purchase a woodland on a large
Brazilian ranch to preserve the unique "South Atlantic Forest Fauna"
The price had risen into the quarter million dollar range and it was too
rich, apparently, for the contributers. Later, I understand, the forest
was cut and the valuable timber sold off. It was estimated that
selective logging could have removed over a million dollars worth of
Rosewood, with negligible impact on the fauna. So it would have more than
paid for itself if it had been purchased and preserved. This is one of
the most critically endangered habitats in our hemisphere.

No reason why conservationists shouldn't make shrewd investments. MIKE
