Hi:
I can't recall having water drop discoloration, my setup has a screen of
galvanized hardware cloth to keep the specimen off the bottom of the jar,
separated from the bug by a piece of paper towel. Is there some kind of ion
preference happening with the zinc? The water here has everything. Or
possibly I just never noticed. Peridae are a form of Lycaenid aren't they?.
