NO I. Polios!

Greg:

After making two trips up to Illinois Beach State Park, one at the end of
April and the other in early May, I once again "struck out" in my vane
attempt to flush the elusive Hoary Elfin from the bearberry (!)

I'm afraid the weather has been, for the most part, downright dismal
(cold and rainy and windy) and I've not seen ANY butterflies in the State
Park this year...

Though I wasn't able to get up there last year because of my job in the
butterfly tent, a friend of mine went and spent two hours combing the
dunes, and "claims" he found ONE I. polios gasping on its last breath (!)

I'll check with the ranger up there and see if HE's seen any this year...
