Just a brief message to keep people up to date on the desert southwest
painted lady movements.

We have been experiencing a moderate migration over the last week. It
started very distinctly here in Yuma in early afternoon on April 14 and has
been running every day since then. Mostly they are flying fast and in a WSW
direction. The first day there were just 1-2 per minute, but that gradually
build until Sunday, April 20, when I was counting about 25 per minute coming
by. By today, April 22, the movement has almost stopped.

We are in the extreme southwest of Arizona and several areas of the desert
around here had quite heavy rainfalls a few weeks ago, causing locally
abundant wildflower production. Temperatures have mostly been in the middle
70's through that time with just a couple of days above 80.
