I agree with Alex.  Sightings of giant swallowtails are infrequent but not
unusual in Michigan.  The are normally resident here.  Once in a while a
hard, late spring frost will kill them off and it takes a few years to
rebuild the population.  But, this has been a very good year for Michigan
sightings of cresphontes.  Most in appropriate habitats where their host
plant grows and larvae have been found historically.  Queens are another
matter entirely.  They have only been observed in the state on a few
occasions.
