UI Connecticut cocoon

My money is still on the cocoon being that of a Polyphemus. Promethea
cocoons are torpedo shaped, wrapped in a rolled leaf and hang vertically.
I have found Polyphemus cocoons spun attached to small trees and shrubs
near the ground. I even found one attached to a lawn chair once. In harsh
environments such as the Paradise bog near Lake Superior in Michigan's
Upper Peninsula we have repeatedly captured very diminutive adults of both
Polyphemus and H. columbia. They are perfect in every way, except for size.
