ethylene dichloride use

I sometimes use ethyl acetate in a similar manner for microleps. I have smaller vials with a small square of cloth tacked to the cork on the inside of the vial. I than put a drop of ethyl acetate on the cloth and I have a small temporary killing jar. It works very quickly. Aside from the human health hazards, it will also dissolve plastic, so you have to be careful, e.g., you can't use it in plastic pill vials.
