Priscilla and I would like to thank personally all of you who attended the joint LepSoc/Pacific Slope/SEABA meeting in Sierra Vista. Well over 275 of you attended - the biggest meeting of its kind ever - or so I've been told.
The talks were superb. Thanks to all of you for your carefully thought-out presentations.
Thanks to those who led field trips and shared their expertise and wisdom with those of us less knowledgeable. It was a labor of love for all of you who took part. Not only did anyone not charge for their expertise - all of the presenters and field trip leaders were also registered participants in the meeting.
It was especially heartening to see all those young people there, some of them stunningly brilliant. The science of Lepidoptery seems to be alive and well and will be into the future in such capable hands.
Thanks also to the vendors whose booths overflowed into the hall. Your fees helped fund us - and we hope your sales went well.
Of course none of this would have happened without the hard work Paul and Evi Opler, an irreplaceable resource, who worked to the point of exhaustion for many months to pull the meeting together.
We hope this example of NABA chapters CO-hosting these meetings extends into the future. The basic goals of 99% of the members of both organizations are the same - and we have much to learn from each other.
