Dear Lepidopterists,
Just to let you know that I have now checked all 10,202 genus-group names in the LepIndex database (http://www.nhm.ac.uk/entomology/lepindex/) for the butterflies (Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea) and the 30 moth superfamilies listed below, against the corresponding records in Pitkin & Jenkins' Generic Names database (http://www.nhm.ac.uk/entomology/butmoth/index.html) and have corrected the data in LepIndex where necessary (e.g. spellings of genus-group names and author names). I have also updated the higher classification of all the taxa in these superfamilies so that it now largely follows the classification proposed by Lamas et al. (submitted) for the butterflies and Kristensen (1999) for the moths (see Pitkin & Jenkins' database for more information). In addition, the status (= availability) of all junior genus-group names (e.g. junior subjective synonyms, junior homonyms etc) has been entered into LepIndex from Pitkin & Jenkins' database.
If you notice any errors then please let me know.
Best wishes,
George Beccaloni
