Hello Fellow Lepidophiles,

I am seeking help with the identification of several moths from my 2005
field season. Bob Patterson has kindly posted photos of many of my
unknowns, most of which I have as specimens as well, on the Moth
Photographers Group (MPG) website. Almost all the moths shown are from
oak woods on Long Island, NY, and I tried to include habitat/location
notes when they were not. (Some of the photos are from pine barrens
areas on LI as well.) The unknowns are found on two pages: one page just
for Tortricids can be found at

Moth Photographers Group -- Hugh McGuinness Unid. Moths 002
<http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/HMU002.shtml>

And a second page for everything else (and there is a large number of
families represented) at

Moth Photographers Group -- Hugh McGuinness Unid. Moths 003
<http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/HMU003.shtml>

Please bookmark these pages if you plan to return to them, as they are
currently not linked to the main MPG site. By clicking on the link under
the photo with your e-mail program open, a blank message address to both
Bob and me will be automatically generated. Any help you can provide
will aid both my research for The Nature Conservancy and the MPG
website. I'm looking forward to hearing suggestions.

If you do not know the MPG website, you should visit it. It is
incredible. There are now photographs of several thousand species of
moths, which are represented as both spread specimens and live photos.
It wouldn't surprise me if Bob's goal is to get live photos of all
11000+ North American moths up on the site-nothing like ambition. The
Tortricid and Pyralid photos alone are an unbelievable resource and
rumor has it that Bob is currently tackling the Gelechiids.
