California Sees worst Butterfly Season in 35 years

Well, maybe it's too bad that Joanna hadn't been to the Lake Havasu City, Arizona Mohave Desert region during late November 2005 and early February 2006...No doubt she would have been pleasantly surprised by the butterfly diversity that I found in this regions at those times...This diversity was far greater than I had ever observed with my own four eyes in several previous visits to the region during the "winter" months...

Remember also, as John Masters pointed out on another listserve, we are NOT speaking of the entire season here, only about a fourth of it (or less)...

Hi all,

FYI
http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20060508/sc_space/californiaseesworstbutterflies
seasonin35years

I have not been here for 35 years but activity does seem a little sparse in
the desert right now. I have been out photo documenting native plants in a 5
mile area of land slated for development in the Desert Hot Springs area
almost daily and have seen hardly a flutter.

Best wishes,
Joanna
