[leps-talk] temp/humidity levels for collections

Well, I just wrote about this particular problem with respect to my own
collection, in eastern Massachusetts. 
 
I am sure that an acceptable humidity level is 50%; the relative
humidity in teh basement room that houses the collection at present is
70% (of course, it has been abnormally warm and humid here for the last
week). I do not appear to have "re-relaxing" problems until mid-summer,
when the outdoor (ambient) humidity is probably in excess of 90% at
times. I have a humidity indicator now and will keep track of this
situation.
 
I intend to seal teh collection airtight during the summer months, and
use desiccant inside the boxes AND inside the cabinets to prevent a
recurring of the problem. I am also "attacking" the slight mold problem
that I've been having at teh same time, by placing a small amount of
those "volcanic rocks" that you get at Home Depot etc.
 
Anyway, I'm working on the problem as we speak, because I'm sick of the
re-relaxing headache...
 
Someone told me just to move to Arizona...not a bad idea, but not just
yet...
