Hi Hugh,
We also had an influx of southern migrants in Ontario this fall and I have
heard of records of Agrius cingulatus, Spoladea recurvalis etc. from Quebec
recently while putting together the zone 7 Lep Soc summary. In southern
Ontario we had a good number of rare noctuid migrants incl. Anicla infecta,
Hypena minualis, Mocis texana among others (some of which were provincial
firsts) as well as A. cingulatus etc. In the pyralids there were several
records of Melonworm (D. hyalinata), along with numbers of H. perspectalis &
S. recurvalis. The fun was cut short by a plunge in temperatures after the
Canadian Thanksgiving weekend but we may yet get some additional good
records (temps. tonight are a bit more respectable!)
cheers,
Jeff Crolla
