L anthedon or L. creola Identification?

The wingshapes, as indicated in these photos, are somewhat different as
well. I was going to mention that yesterday...(should have). Also, bear
in mind that just because a female Pearly Eye may have a fifth FW
eyespot, doesn't mean that it's a creola. A good percentage of anthedon
females (especially southward) have that 5th spot...

I said yesterday that creola is "probably limited to the Lower Austral
Zone". Not entirely, at least in the Carolinas. We have taken it in the
Lower Piedmont there...so it does get into the various lower parts of
the Upper Austral...

Hi Tom - assuming that the photo below makes it though the list server
filter - you can see that your bug is E. anthedon. The best character
is the median ventral FW line that is "punched out" toward the apex in
creala and fairly flat in anthedon.

Best,

Can anybody help with this butterfly ID.
To me it leans toward a female Lethe creola but might just be a female
Lethe anthedon abberration. I found several L. anthedon and one of
these odd ones. The L. creola shouldn't be this far North from what I
can find in the books. But butterflies seldom read those.
