Gail, as I said earlier, it is a secret, unpublicized site and I am the
first person to reveal it's exact location on a public internet forum:
http://imageshack.com/a/img823/6760/6bcl.jpg No insider leaked
the location to me - I had to find it myself via watching off road
4 wheeler club enthusiast videos like these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBhwOayKOvg
and then exploring the southwestern slopes of the Popocatepetl
volcano on Google Earth.

Previously the public had been shown only maps like this one
http://www.learner.org/jnorth/images/graphics/monarch/Distribution_NorthAmericaEW.gif
that lead everyone to believe the eastern monarchs migrate only to
a small 75 square mile region in and near the state of Michoacan, Mexico
and therefore the migration is vulnerable to extinction via logging, climate
change, etc.

But in reality the overwintering colonies in Mexico are spread out
over a large area much as is the case in California, Australia and
New Zealand.
