MCDOUGAL CENTER EVENTS THIS WEEK

  * CONCERT ON THE GREEN / (07-29-2006 6:30 p.m.)/
Come check out one of America's most distinctive sounding vocal
groups, the Temptations. Meet with other students at the HGS gates at
6:30 to walk over together and find seats for the headliners. Some
light snacks and drinks will be provided. For more information:

  * PRO BASKETBALL@ MOHEGUN SUN / (07-30-2006 4:00 p.m. )/
Come catch a WNBA home game (CT Suns vs San Antonio) at Mohegan Sun.
Shop, game, eat dinner at the Mohegun Sun before or after the game.
For group discount tickets, call the McDougal Center, 432-BLUE or
swing by the McDougal Box Office between 1 and 5pm, 123 HGS ($14).
Transportation is not provided to the Casino & Sun Arena. Drive
yourself and park for free- see website for directions. Or take the
Casino Shuttle bus from Union Station New Haven, this $16 bus tix

  * MCDOUGAL WRITING PEER REVIEWER / (07-24-2006 Accepting
Applications)/
This position is paid and the time commitment varies based on the
number of submissions received, but is flexible with your schedule.
Duties include attending a 1-hour training session to learn the
mechanics of becoming a peer reviewer and editing submitted works
(course papers, proposals, etc.) by graduate students. If interested,
please email mcdougal.center at yale.edu with "Peer Reviewer" as the
subject title and include the following information: name, email
address, field and year of study. For more information, please visit

  * ASTRONOMY PUBLIC LECTURE / (08-03-2006 8:00 p.m.)/
Come hear a free public lecture by Dr. Jason Tumlinson on "Unraveling
the Galaxy to Find the First Stars". All ages are welcome. Weather
permitting, stay after the lecture to view the stars and planets
through the 8" and 12" telescopes at LFO. The Observatory is at 355
Prospect St. This series is brought to you by the Yale Center for
Astronomy and Astrophysics (www.astro.yale.edu/publicnights)

  * 25TH NEW HAVEN JAZZ FESTIVAL / (08-03-2006   )/
The 25th Annual New Haven Jazz Festival starts August 3rd and goes to
August 19th. Enjoy headliner concerts on the Green, jazz in NH clubs
and parks, jazz films at Criterion Sundays, and jazz brunches. See

  * SIDEWALK FAIRS / (     )/
Summer in the Broadway District means much more than shopping: Every
Sat from July 15 to August 19, the Broadway District will be the
place to be for your pre-concert celebrations complete with sidewalk
fairs and live music (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with live music at 3 p.m.)
Head there for delicious treats and great shopping before you head
down Elm Street to the Concerts on the Green (6 p.m. pre-concert show
& 8 p.m. headliners).
